TopsailWeather.com is a non-commercial, privately owned and operated weather station and weather information web site. Its purpose is to provide residents and visitors of the Topsail Island, NC area with local weather observations, weather forecasts, offshore and marine forecasts, tide predictions, beach and surf conditions, and other publicly available weather and climate information.
This website serves the greater Topsail Island, NC area and the communities of Surf City, Topsail Beach, Hampstead, and Holly Ridge with continuously updated weather and climate information. It is automatically updated with the latest weather readings every 15 minutes - 24/7/365.

Topsail Weather utilizes a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus weather station to measure and log weather data. Weather data collected by the VP2 are processed and delivered to topsailweather.com using Weather Display. Weather Display generates the station data and automatically updates our website every 15 minutes. The complete weather station and software runs via a dedicated computer and broadband Internet connection. The system operates 24/7/365. It has been in continuous operation since August 2005.
All weather measuring sensors are NIST certified. Temperature and humidity sensors are enclosed in a solar-powered, 24-hour fan-aspirated radiation shield. The shield combines fan aspiration and passive shielding to minimize the effects of solar radiation. The station is manufactured by Davis Instruments of San Francisco, CA, USA.

Software is configured to record readings from the VP2 every 60 seconds. It uploads readings to the website every 15 minutes. Weather data from this station is sent via the web to the website, the NOAA Citizen's Weather Observer Program, Weather Underground (RapidFire), the National Hurricane Center, and the Amateur Radio APRS System via data packets transmitted on 144.390 Mhz (FM), and other reporting stations using the NOAA METAR and CWOP systems.
Topsail Weather also broadcasts weather data via Amateur Radio using APRS through an onsite digipeater. Marine and ground-based vehicles with APRS capabilities utilize this data to assist in navigation. For more information about Amateur Radio visit the The American Radio Relay League.
